Primary Voice is a collection of interviews, media and writing that documents the experience of people with urbanization and labor in changing societies.

The project was started by Mikaela Kvan in 2014. Phase 1 of the work consisted of interviews conducted in China and Cambodia in 2014 and 2015, funded in part by grants awarded by The India China Institute at The New School in partnership with The Starr Foundation. Phase 2 is a collaboration with The Vann Molyvann Project documenting people who use the buildings designed by Cambodia's most prolific modernist architect. Phase 3 established +My Voice, a workshop and online portal asking people to document their own lives, in cooperation with BF+DA and Study NY.
